Latin America and the Caribbean is the second most urbanized region in the world, with eight out of ten people living in cities. With their highly concentration population, industries and infrastructure, cities generate almost three quarters of the global greenhouse gas emissions, and are among the areas that will suffer the most from climate change. However, they also offer many opportunities to develop strategies that help deal with climate change and improve the quality of life for city dwellers.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, there are important initiatives that promote the transformation of the urban environment with a climate compatible development model. This webinar will discuss the experiences of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability‘s Urban LEDS Program and the Interamerican Development Bank‘s Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative, both of which are supporting local processes and facilitating learning through regional exchange.
The webinar will be held in Spanish. For more information about the webinar, click here. If you have any questions about this event, please contact the Secretariat of the Platform LEDS LAC: info@ledslac.org.
