Coordinated action between national and subnational levels allows for greater greenhouse gas reductions, as transport projects implemented at a local level with the support of the national level experience improvements in project structuring, measuring, reporting and verification (MRV) systems and in additional investments to scaling-up the project. Moreover, the results can be translated into institutional strengthening and improve local planning processes.

This webinar will provide an overview of the findings of the process followed during 2016 by the Latin America and the Caribbean Partnership of the Low Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS LAC) on the national and subnational development of sustainable urban transport actions. After this, and as an example of the financing component, the case study of PROTRAM will be discussed, as a fund that supports different governmental entities in strengthening their urban transport systems.
