The Global Climate Action Partnership (GCAP) is excited to host a Global Workshop in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil

October 2 – 5, 2024

“Together Towards Mission 1.5: Enabling Local Action to Drive Global Change”

With the next round of Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) updates approaching in early 2025, this is an instrumental time for coming together to exchange best practices, highlight lessons learned, and foster collaboration to accelerate climate efforts to build a just and resilient future for the world.

In parallel with the Clean Energy Ministerial and the G20, this event will bring together decision-makers and other climate practitioners from around the world for collaboration on NDCs and Long-Term Strategies (LTS). The agenda is focused on cross-cutting themes of the NDC and LTS process:

  • October 2: Raising Ambition of NDCs and LTS
  • October 3: Accelerating Implementation of NDCs and LTS
  • October 4: Ensuring a Just and Resilient Transition Through NDCs and LTS
  • OPTIONAL – October 5: Networking and Site Visit

In addition to focusing on these elements of NDCs and LTS, the workshop will deep-dive into considerations for key sectors through parallel sessions each day. Specific sectors to be addressed include:

  • Scaling-Up Financing
  • Resilient Net Zero Transport Systems
  • Transforming Food Systems
  • Clean Energy Transitions

The workshop is a platform for countries and climate practitioners to collectively reflect, strategize, and strengthen climate actions by sharing lessons learned, determining emerging practices, and identifying areas of collaboration. Together, participants will co-create inclusive and equitable solutions that accelerate implementation and raise ambition of NDCs aligned with LTS to inform the 2025 NDC Updates and achieve Mission 1.5.
