This webinar is organized through the Asia LEDS Partnership’s Building Energy Efficiency (BEE) Community of Practice (CoP) and the Zero Carbon Building Accelerator2 (ZCBA) project of the Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) initiative.
Between 2020 and 2050, new buildings are anticipated to produce about half of their lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from operations energy use, and
half from embodied carbon1 associated with the building products and construction (World GBC, 2021). Selection and use of the right materials in buildings can help reduce operational energy as well as embodied carbon, thereby playing a key role in building decarbonization.
The webinar will highlight the significance and impact of building materials on energy use and GHG emissions across the building lifecycle. It aims to share solutions, opportunities and challenges to adopt and accelerate the deployment of low-carbon building materials, aimed towards decarbonization of the buildings sector. Examples of action and case studies from South Asia and the Asian region on uptake of low-carbon building materials will be discussed by speakers. Attendees will get to exchange their learnings and experiences on the same.
